928 on Mythbusters
From 6speedonline:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A friend of mine Mike Allen from Popular Mechanics was asked to help the guys from Mythbusters to cut the body off of a 928 and put it on backwards. The objective was to see if the car was more aerodynamic from the front or the back.

Moronic! Should have saved their money to start with and passed...or at the very least, just taken it to a wind tunnel! Another perfectly good 928 RUINED!

Based on the 'teardrop' principle in basic vehicular aerodynamics, I'm putting my money on a better than existing and embarassing drag co-efficient.
Are we taking bets?

interesting how there is a front spoiler but the rear is not there i would bet that would increase the CD if it had been installed, the wind tunnel would have been a much better solution to this issue , too bad they ruined another 928 for THE SHOW

It wouldn't have been as entertaining to simply use a wind tunnel. Those guys are all about going way over the top, and reversing the body of an endangered species fits the bill perfectly.

I believe the car I have been looking at in Monterey is the car they used as a control. The guy selling it mentioned it was going to be shot in SF. He also mentioned photos in Popular Mechanics. He would not reveal the show as he was under contract? I guess Mike Allen wasn't under contract... He mentioned many 100+ mph runs down a runway...
He's using the fact that it will be in a show to increase desire for the car. Still haven't found anyone to take a look at the car for me yet. It's an 84 auto with a LSD. Has two sets of wheels and tires. Some 17" twists, and a gold set of manhole covers that they painted flat black to better match the other car. Lots of receipts, and a recent paint job (in a corvette silver) that he calls a 10 footer. He won't take any photos of the interior or engine bay, so I'm shying away...
Small world huh?
