I like Overhaulin' a lot, but not a big fan of the oval window install.

Chip had to make a statement and the oval window did a good job of that - I think they did a pretty good job for an outlaw .....

I was worried about what they would do to it. The oval window I think was perfect and is reminiscent of the Type 64.

It seemed strange to me they did the interior and exterior as an outlaw, but kept all the mechanicals stock. Also didn't like the modern looking script on the side - font should have been more classic looking IMHO. Very nice quality work, as usual. At least he didn't hack it up as much as the Europa!

I was ok with it. The oval window could have been depending on the original stylists. The color combination was good. And do what to mechanicals? Put a 3 liter in it? People complain. Update the original motor? People complain.

The interior was, while not stock, nicely done with colors that were of the period. They replaced the steering wheel with a more appropriate one.

I liked the updated stripes.
Customized, yes, but understated.

Window didnt need to be done. Hopefully the stripe is not painted on.

I enjoyed the story. The car....well I prefer the original look. Still it came out nice and glad the owner was happy.

I was at San Diego Concours yesterday and the guys I talked to were mixed about the oval window. Chip Foose makes a very good living customizing cars that can catch the eye. So I am ok with the job. Something to remember, the car was not pristine, it was on its last legs so Foose brought one back from the dead. He knows enough not to molest a good example. His design could be called a design exercise. I like design exercises done by guys who graduated from Art Center College of Design. A place where the head of the Transportation Department respects and knows Porsche. Chip does respect the design elements of Porsche. He wanted another interpretation.

Porsche itself changed the design of the 356 with the Karmann Notchback. I feel Foose's version is better looking than a Karmann Notchback.
