76 914- my progress so far...
so a few months back i traded my 89 944 for a 914 2.0 AND a 924s. After finishing out the autox season in the 924s(and doing some upgrades such as springs, swaybars etc) i won my pca class in I2 and gave the car to my gf for xmas. I started taking the teener apart after some trouble with the clutch cable brought some rust to my attention. After some good checking, welding, cutting, etc..and some cash, here is how its coming. Ill try to keep it in order and updated.

My latest progress has been on the rear suspension. I purchased some hubs from a guy that are drilled for five lug. I also got the new bearings for the swing arms and welded on the strap kit to support them. Now they are painted and hopefully i can put the wheels on it in the next week. I may be cutting the rear quarters out to fit some wider rear wheels that have my kuhmo slicks on them.

Hey, Boost (or do you prefer to be called "90"?), couple of questions. It that piece on the tunnel off a parts car or did ya buy it seperate? I think Martin got the same piece off a parts car for his GT conversion. Can't really tell what ya did on on the floorboards? And what do you mean buy straps for the rear swing arms? You talkin' about something like a strut brace, or something ON the arms themselves?
Anyhow, I love what you're doin' to this car, and more threads like yours and Martin's only make me think that a 914 might be my first Porsche...

the floor was pieced together with pieces of a honda accord door! I made a piece close to the same shape, rounded the edges with a hammer and a piece of square bar, and then trimmed it to fit. The rest was somewhat simpler. The straps for the rear swingarms weld on. They sell them on pelican/paragon for like $150 but i found some for $75 someone didnt install..welded them on and grinded smooth before i painted the swingarms. THis keeps them from flexing in a hard corner...

got my rear struts painted yellow and installed my s2 front springs on the rear...160lbs and slightly lower. FInally got those pesky bearings all installed, what a PITA. I also stripped the tar crap from the floor and found a little hole right behind my gas pedal.

got some done this weekend at the gtg. SCrubbed the tar off of the floor w/ a torch and scraper, then applied some POR15 to lock out any further rust.

got the 911 front suspension-spindles,rotors,calipers and hubs- installed the other day and had to have some 1.5" spacers cut to fit over my hubs centers but now i have full FIVE LUG! whoo hooo! Now to dissassemble, paint and detail, buy some new bearings and stuff, and she'll be sitting on four again to do paint!
