World Class

There are many Porsche restomod builders out there in the world, but few (aside from Singer and Guntherwerks) produce 911s of the same caliber as Southern California's Workshop 5001. The company gets by on reputation alone and doesn't even have a sign on their nondescript headquarters, which blends in with rows of other commercial buildings. And yet, it cranks out incredible cars like this gorgeous 1968 Porsche 911.

Discreet Builds

If there's one thing that Workshop 5001 is famous for, it's churning out amazing old 911s that are built to a high degree, yet incredibly understated. The untrained eye would likely believe this is just a nicely restored 911, but in reality, it's far more than that.

Motorsports Tribute

The owner of this particular car wanted to transform it into a tribute of sorts to Porsche's 1968 911 T/R racer, a powerful, lightweight, and quite rare machine. To that end, the 911's 2.5-liter flat-six has been modified to deliver 235 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, a modest total by today's standards, but far more than the old race car produced as well.

Perfect Perch

Aside from adding power, Workshop 5001 also hones all of the details on these cars, including this one's period-correct Houndstooth interior. Underneath that vintage fabric lies a set of carbon racing bucket seats from Tillett, however, which gives the driver the perfect perch to row through the gears of the 901 gearbox.

Stock Enhancement

The suspension wasn't thrown away and replaced with all-new parts, either, but rather enhanced with components from Sway-Away, along with StopTech brakes with four-piston calipers up front and two-piston pieces in the rear. And of course, they're covered in proper Fuchs wheels finished in bronze.

Vintage Vibes

This 911 sports the perfect hue as well - Brewster Green - which helps retain its vintage vibe. Black trim gives it a more modern appearance, which true Porsche aficionados will undoubtedly notice right off the bat. But to the casual observer, there isn't much going on here but a very nice old 911.

Refined Perfection

And that's precisely what Workshop 5001 is known for - building cars that don't look like they've been modified at all, really. The devil here is truly in the details, and most of us can appreciate a car that retains everything we love about old 911s, albeit with a bit of refinement.
