Why the 911s are so Ridiculously Popular?

Build Quality

People who really know Porsche will tell you this before anything else and it’s 100% true. These cars are simply built better than other cars. Going back each decade only proves this point in its entirety. A lot of cars were garbage in the 70s and 80s in terms of build quality. However, Porsche was not and they still aren’t.  

Driving Experience

That build quality allows a Dr. Jekyl personality that has made these cars notorious over the years. All good drivers like a challenge and there is nothing more challenging than mastering a car with a rear engine layout. Nothing. Anyone who says they aren’t a little scared of these cars is lying. Mastering them is worn like a true badge of honor.

Brand Achievement

Porsche is one of the only brands that have had a massively successful history in motorsport—not just on circuits like Le Mans either. They actually took a flagship supercar at one point through one of the most grueling desert rally races on the planet and won. Oddly enough, you can feel this in the cars when you drive them which isn’t something any other supercar manufacturer can say.

Super Daily

Speaking of supercars: the biggest downer is that you can’t daily them. If you own a luxury sports car the odds are you pay in spades for the opportunity when it comes to maintenance costs. Not so in a 911. Many people daily these cars as they make for a perfectly docile and relaxed environment to be in. Vintage 911s are daily driven by many people while offering a rugged analog feel missing in most new cars.

Tinker Away

Many of the older cars can be worked on with ease out of your garage which means the 911 is a car for tinkerers. They really do check all the boxes with a strong throw back to the mechanical days of carburetors and adjusting things in your garage before going out on a drive.
