Shining Example

There are many makers of beautifully crafted vintage Porsche 911 restomods these days, a list that includes the likes of Singer and Gunther, along with an ever-growing list of shops. Theon Design is one of the newer such outfits to come along in recent years, but as we've seen in the past, it ranks right near the top in terms of churning out seriously impressive old 911s. This particular car - BEL001 - is a perfect example of that.

Rare and Pricey

The UK-based shop sinks a whopping 6,000 hours into its 911 redos, which can be built with either steel or carbon-fiber bodywork, though it takes around 18 months to order and take delivery of one at the moment, with a few folks already on the waiting list. As one might imagine, they aren't cheap either, with the Carrera 2 Coupe starting at $462,000 and the Carrera 2 Targa coming in at $492,000.

Modern, yet Vintage

This particular car, however, costs around $600k to put together, and it features both steel and carbon fiber body panels, which are covered in a lovely shade of green. What's particularly notable about the build is that even though it looks vintage, it's chock full of modern upgrades - from the brighter headlights to the old side mirrors that are now power-adjustable.

Creature Comforts

The customer wanted a 911 that he could actually go out and drive, and as such, this one is equipped for grand touring. The soft tan and black leather interior is quite luxurious as a result, with custom seats built specifically for the owner. It's joined by a vast array of amenities including a wireless charger that also allows the owner's smartphone to control the audio system and provide navigation on the go.

Underneath

To help dial in the suspension settings, this Theon 911 utilizes TracTive Suspension's adjustable adaptive shocks underneath, along with a set of attractive 17-inch Fiske forged aluminum wheels inspired by the Fuch windmill design, which are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 225/45 in the front and 275/40 in the rear.

Big Power

Pop the hood, and you'll find an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six that's been fitted with a Rotrex centrifugal supercharger, along with a water-methanol injection system and a pair of charge coolers to keep temperatures down. The powerplant has been completely redone with custom cams, Carillo connecting rods, Mahle pistons, reworked heads, and independent throttle bodies, with output coming in at 400 hp and 367 lb-ft of torque. That power flows to the wheels via a rebuilt G50 five-speed manual.

What's Not to Love?

The result of all that work is what some might consider to be the ultimate Porsche - a sweet-sounding and powerful machine that looks like a polished piece of jewelry, everywhere you peek. As such, it's easy to see why these cars have become so popular in recent years, in spite of their sky-high price tags.
