Close to Perfection

The high-end Porsche restomod market is one ripe with options from the likes of Gunther, Singer, and a host of other companies, but there's always room for more, right? Even those that may not necessarily agree with that sentiment must admit that the creations coming out of a company called Theon Design are good enough to be considered alongside those lofty names, at least, because they're pretty darn close to perfection.

Small but Impressive

Like most other similar outfits, Theon focuses on the beloved 964-gen 911, a car that most consider the very best of the bunch, as well as the final air-cooled version of the iconic sports car. Theon is a relatively small and newish outfit but is already cranking out some seriously beautiful machinery.

Starts With One

As is usually the case, Theon was created by someone who simply wanted to build their own idea of the perfect Porsche - Adam Hawley - who previously worked for a number of automakers, including Jaguar Land Rover. Once finished, Hawley's personal ride was so amazing that everyone was asking him to build one for them, too.

Updated Components

Thus, that led to the creation of Theon Design, which has built a few fine Porsche restomods for a handful of lucky clients thus far. The very first one built features 930-style bumpers and headlight bezels, carbon fiber body parts, and other components made from a Kevlar blend.

More Power

That leads to a total weight loss of around 220 pounds, which undoubtedly aids performance, but so do various engine upgrade options. Those include either a naturally-aspirated or supercharged version of Porsche's 4.0-liter flat-six, churning out at least 400 horsepower. The first build features a rear-wheel drive configuration, along with a 993-gen six-speed transmission and limited-slip rear differential.

New, but Old

The real story here, however, is Theon's obsessive attention to detail - everywhere you look, you'll see nothing from finely crafted parts. It's essentially a brand new 964, a car that features more craftsmanship than the original, as well as far superior driving characteristics and performance.

Worth the Wait

As one might imagine, a car this good isn't cheap or easy to maintain, with a price tag of at least $500,000 not including the donor car. Theon also only builds five cars per year, ensuring its rarity, and its order books are already backlogged at this point. But for those with the means and the patience, these cars certainly look to be worth the wait.
