What if you woke up with a GT3 RS in your driveway and a million dollars to spend flying around the world to any race track of your choice? Where would you go? Here’s my list of dream tracks that have strong Porsche history.

Porsches Dream of Track Days

We all live in different parts of the world so it’s only fitting that one person’s backyard track is another guy's dream destination. These are the tracks and race courses I’ve dreamt about driving a Porsche around my whole life, and the first places I would go (in order) if I had an unlimited budget for travel and cars.

1. Le Mans

Of course we have to start here. When you think about Porsche motorsports and heritage, Le Mans is the first thing that we all associate the company with. The freedom of blasting wide open down the Mulsanne Straight has to be one of the top bucket list items for any enthusiast.

2. The Nurburgring

Second stop has to be the Green Hell. Porsche debuted the 550 Spyder here at the famous 1000 km race in 1953. Stefan Bellof set a time of 6:11.13 in the 80s driving a 956. The number of Porsches that have been campaigned here is hard to imagine. There are very few places on earth that would be more fun to rip up. Few tracks demand as much physical capability and mental concentration as this one. Luckily, this one is not hard to check off your bucket list, as it is usually opened to the public to lap for just the price of a ticket (and a flight to Germany).

3. Daytona

Porsches have been running here in the 24 hour race since 1968, proving not all great and challenging tracks are in Europe. The high banking and sheer amount of time spent wide open throttle on the super speedway, before slamming down the gears for a fast left hander into the infield section makes it hard to pass up. For many of us reading, this track is probably the easiest and most attainable to drive!

4. Paris-Dakar Rally Course

Both the 953 and the 959 won this rally/race, and it makes my list because of how far out in left field it is for the company. They don’t have a presence in rallying anymore, unfortunately, but there would be nothing more fun than buying a 911 and adapting it to off-road use for the modern version of this race. “I rally race my Porsche” just has a different ring to it that is very appealing. Who’s up for co driving in a stripped out and lifted 4S?

5. Spa Francorchamps

This is one of those places where you can really stretch a car’s legs. It’s such a daunting circuit to master and to make things more difficult, it is very fast. If you’ve driven a GT3, you can attest to how much power they have for a road car, and how you really need space to be able to wind them out and Spa has plenty. Besides, Eau Rouge is one of those corners where you take a deep breath every time you drive into it. This track had to make my list.

What are your top tracks?

If you won the lottery and could pick 5 of your favorite tracks where would you go? What Porsche would you drive? I’d like to hear what you guys have to say. There are so many great tracks to drive in the world, I’m sure you have some suggestions!
