Getting your Porsche stolen

No matter what you drive, the instant realization of a stolen car brings out panic. A study back in 2013 showed that the Panamera was one of the top 10 sports cars to be stolen. Between 2010 to 2012, 103 Porsche Panameras were stolen. While the idea of your car being stolen might bring shivers, it hit number four on the list. This means there are three other things car owners need to worry about more than the Porsche owner.

An Unlicensed Teenager Driving Your Porsche

Everyone knows not to hand the keys over to an unlicensed person, but what happens when your teenager decides to take it out for a joyride? Well, hopefully, your teenager knows the difference between right and wrong. This 16-year-old decided to take his mom's Porsche Cayenne and got into real trouble. After a hit-and-run, this teenager decides to hide out at his friend's house and caused more damage to the vehicle when he couldn't successfully park it into the garage. Besides the expenses to fix the Porsche and the other car, the real fear (for any parent) would be the consequences this child would have to face. Check out the video here.

Handing Over Your Keys to Valet

Your teen going for a joyride without your knowledge is one thing, but willingly handing over your keys to someone who might have little experience behind the wheel must be terrifying in the back of your mind. The idea of them pulling a Ferris Bueller's Day Off comes to mind. If the thought of someone testing the Porsche's strength for themselves isn't bad enough, those small and bigger accidents are a possibility. Check out this writer's valet confessions that prove your worst nightmares come true.

Finding out it has suffered the premature engine failure

The 1997-2008 Boxsters and the 911s between 1999-2008 used the IMS (Intermediate Shaft) bearing. It was used to support the timing chains and the engine oil pump drive. Unfortunately, the fault in the IMS bearing was insufficient lubrication. With the lubricant drying out, it resulted in damage to the intermediate shaft and a rebuild of the engine. The use of these bearings was discontinued in 2009. Of course, those buying a used Porsche that fits this description will have to worry about their Porsche suffering the same fate.

Needing to avoid a moose or deer

It is not every day that a moose will find its way in front of your Porsche, but it is likely that a large animal or other critters can run into the road. In Scandinavia, they do what is called a moose test in which they test different cars to see if it can handle avoiding a moose when needed. How the moose test is conducted is by driving 45-50 mph, swerving into the left lane and returning to the right lane. When testing the Porsche Macan, its left front wheel locked up and it skidded. Surely the scary thing here is knowing that your Porsche Macan won't be able to handle avoiding unpredictable obstacles in front of the road.
