Next Level

The Porsche Cayenne is often credited with being the very first luxury performance SUV to become a volume seller, ushering in a new era for the automaker and the industry as a whole. These days, performance SUVs and crossovers are a dime a dozen, however. Thus, Porsche took the obvious next step and created the Cayenne Turbo GT, the very first Porsche SUV bearing its iconic GT moniker.

More Power

To make the Cayenne Turbo GT a better performer than the regular Turbo model, Porsche gave its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 a whopping 90 additional horsepower, for a total of 631 raging ponies. Meanwhile, the GT's 626 pound-feet of torque represents an increase of 59 over the lesser model.

Quickest and Fastest

That power bump results in some seriously impressive performance for the heavier family hauler - 0-60 mph takes a mere 3.1 seconds, while the quarter-mile flashes by in 11.6 clicks. Keep your right foot planted, and the Cayenne Turbo GT will reach 186 mph before it's done. All of this makes this SUV the quickest and fastest production Cayenne model built to date. In fact, Porsche test driver Lars Kern piloted the Cayenne Turbo GT around the Nürburgring Nordschleife and set a new official SUV lap record of 7:38.9 minutes.

Suspension Upgrades

The coupe-only Cayenne Turbo GT isn't just about power, of course. As is the case with all GT models, this SUV has a slew of upgrades going on underneath it, including a 17 mm lower ride height, a 15 percent stiffer three-chamber air suspension, and unique damper calibration. Additionally, the Power Steering Plus, rear-axle steering system, active Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) systems have all been retuned.

Stop and Go

The front wheels are one inch wider compared to the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, and the negative camber has been increased by 0.45 degrees to allow the specially developed 22-inch Pirelli P Zero Corsa high-performance tires to maximize their contact patch with the road. Stopping power is enhanced by standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), which are wrapped in yellow calipers, but can be optionally equipped in high-gloss black. The rotors measure 440 mm in the front and 410 mm in the rear.

Revised Exterior

In addition to a new Arctic Grey hue, the exterior of the Cayenne Turbo GT has received a host of upgrades. These include a GT-specific front fascia with a unique front lip and larger side air intakes, a contoured carbon-fiber roof, black fender arches, 22-inch GT Design Neodyme wheels, a rear wing with carbon-fiber side plates, a rear diffuser, and an adaptive rear spoiler that features a two-inch gurney flap.

Pricing and Availability

Porsche's ultimate performance SUV (at the moment), the Cayenne Turbo GT is available to order now and expected to reach U.S. dealers in early 2022. The MSRP is $180,800, not including a $1,350 delivery, processing, and handling fee.
