The 6 Best and Worst Rust Colored Wrapped Porsches

Heads turn when a rusty car drives by, and it automatically gives it an interesting story. Those who like the appeal of rust will add a wrap to their Porsche, but, if not done right, it can look like a total red-orange-brown mess. Check out the best and worst rust colored wraps on Porsches.

1. A "Rusty" GT2

This Porsche attended a Cars & Coffee event in the Netherlands and the rusty wrap could not be more on point. The "rusty" brown-orange areas are carefully added to give the illusion that the rust is eating away at the paint job. Not to mention the rivets give it the feeling of scrap metal put together, especially around the door and hood. The Porsche as a whole looks like art. 2. A "Rusty" 911 Turbo

This Porsche must have lost its identity along the way: Is it a silver Porsche turning rusty or vice versa? It is a good thing it was a wrap, because if this was a paint job, someone would have needed to go back to the drawing board. There is no cohesiveness between the paint it is supposed to be and the rust that is consuming it, and so the idea of a rusty Porsche gets lost in the mix.

3. The Same 911 Turbo

So this might seem hypocritical, but while the Porsche as a whole might not look great, there were still some smaller areas that were done right, such as the rust coming down towards the wheel or the rust on the door. If these same techniques were apparent in the rest of the wrap, then maybe it would have succeeded in its cohesiveness.

4. A "Rusty" GT3 RS

The front view of this Porsche starts off well enough to look rusty, or it might be the effect of a blurry image, but then the back gets a little cartoon wacky. You would think that a way to sell a rusty wrap is to make it as realistic as possible. There is not much realism in the way this behind-the-scene mechanism is painted. Maybe it has to do with the license still attached to the car when the rest is meant to allude to a rusted off body. I'm sure this had to do with legal issues, but there are two options here: either 86 it or stop before the license plate.

5. Another "Rusty" GT3 RS

Have you ever heard the expression "less is more?" Well, this Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a testament to that phrase. The faded paint job gives it a touch of vintage 70's race car, and the small rusted area underneath the door is the perfect amount to give the illusion that this Porsche 911 is on its way to getting developed. If you want your Porsche to be a real rustic deception, this is the one to copy.

6. A "Rusty" Cayman GT4

Where to start with this one? This is just as confusing as the 911 Turbo from before. The little rust that is seen looks authentic enough to believe it was water damage, but why make it look like a German patrol car and why so patchy? There are areas where it looks like someone got lazy with the green and quit before the job was done. I won't even mention the black sludge behind the rear wheel that goes around to the back. The sad part is this would have looked great if it stuck to one theme, or done right.
