Studio F.A. Porsche and Shipbuilder Dynamiq Built a Yacht

Did you know that Porsche has its own design studio? Referred to as “Studio F.A. Porsche”, the German company’s industrial design and product team works on everything from hard drives to watches, cutlery to eyewear, and more. Some cities even have Porsche trains! And now, some docks will soon be home to Porsche yachts.

1. GTT 115 Superyacht

Porsche’s yacht is formally titled the “GTT 115 Superyacht. It was created together with Monégasque shipbuilder Dynamiq. Lunched, (no pun intended) in Viareggio, Italy the GTT 115 is marketed as "the modern gentlemen's superyacht" by CEO of Dynamiq Sergei Dobroserdov. In keeping with the Porsche brand the yacht can reach speeds of over 21 knots with a cruising range if 3,400 nautical miles.

"Taking the spirit of high-performance sports car styling to the high seas, the Dynamiq GTT 115 is designed to appeal to car lovers and forward-thinking yacht owners who appreciate the advantages of speed, style and our philosophy of intelligent performance," said Roland Heiler, CEO of Studio F. A. Porsche.

2. It’s heavily outfitted with Porsche designs

The design studio describes the yacht’s lines and potions as similar to the 911; its interior is compared to the Mission E Brown concept. The design of the seacraft is influenced by German minimalism that sports "...fluid lines, side contours and balanced proportions that recall the drop-shaped, overstretched surfaces of the Porsche 911."

Advanced technology and design features include a round-bilge hull form, pod-based propulsion, hull vanes and exclusively developed stabilization system with 4 fins and interceptors. And speaking of modern, it is even a hybrid, with 3 variable-speed generators powering the electric pod motors.

3. The GTT 115 Superyacht can be customized – so long as the customer has good taste

"The rooms are visually connected by decorative aluminium and wooden slats, inspired by the dashboard of the Porsche Mission E. Brown, and cream leather dominates the colours and materials, along with alcantara fabric and indirect LED lighting, as is common in car headliners."

While Porsche and Dynamiq are able to meet the expectations of high-paying customers, it won’t be at the expense of sullying either brand’s refined taste for style. "Sophisticated customers can choose from different color schemes with perfectly coordinated color combinations, as you would expect from vehicle configurators."

5. Naturally, it’s expensive

The obvious question – how much is Porsche’s GTT 115 Superyacht? $16.7 million. To date, seven examples have been built. "We decided to limit production to 7 units to make the GTT 115 a true collector’s item.” continued Dobroserdov. The small production run and the GTT 115's $16.7 million base price will ensure exclusivity.
