Porsche's latest one-off, the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade is inspired by the shifting colors of jade and the mythical LongMa.
A Stunning One-Off Creation
In a collaboration between Porsche Asia Pacific and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade emerges as a truly unique one-off creation. Developed through Porsche's Sonderwunsch program, this luxury EV features a groundbreaking design with a special Chromaflair paint job, reminiscent of the precious gemstone jade. The blend of Urban Bamboo and Shifting Carbon paints creates a shifting color gradient that changes appearance depending on light and angle, giving the car a distinctive, jewel-like sheen.
Meticulous Craftsmanship
The unique gradient finish is no ordinary paint job. Its creation took nearly 12 months of meticulous development, followed by an 80-hour hand-application process. The use of Chromaflair effect paints involves tiny, micrometer-thin aluminum flakes encased in glass, requiring precise application. Each layer had to be carefully applied, cured, cut, and prepared for the next. This rigorous process resulted in a stunning ombre finish with tones of green, yellow, gold, and even blue, reflecting the natural changes jade undergoes under different conditions.
Symbolism Meets Modern Design
Beyond the paint, the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade carries symbolic elements inspired by ancient mythology. Porsche designed a unique logo based on "LongMa," a mythical creature with the body of a horse and the head of a dragon. This figure, associated with strength and good fortune, features prominently throughout the car's interior, from headrests to door sills.
High-Performance Engineering
Although the Celestial Jade's exterior draws much of the attention, its performance specs are equally impressive. Powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, the Taycan Turbo S delivers a staggering 939 horsepower and 819 lb-ft of torque. With Launch Control activated, the car rockets from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.4 seconds, with a top speed of 162 mph. This performance positions the Celestial Jade as not just a visual marvel but a technological powerhouse.
Exclusive Customization
Adding to the Celestial Jade's exclusivity, Porsche debuted a new "Leather to Sample" service with this vehicle, allowing custom leather combinations. For this model, a combination of Slate Grey and English Green leather creates an interior as striking as its exterior. Varnished carbon accents replace the usual Turbonite elements on the bumpers, side skirts, and wheels, adding a sleek, modern touch.
Auction for a Cause
The Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade will be showcased at various events across Southeast Asia before being auctioned for charity in 2025. While Porsche hasn't revealed the specific cause yet, the car is expected to fetch a high price, thanks in part to the costly paint job and rare materials. Previous uses of Chromaflair paint have reportedly added six figures to the cost of Porsche 911 models, hinting at the potential value of this one-off masterpiece.
