What is a Maverick?

Defined as an unorthodox or independent-minded person the Maverick 911 embodies Nakai’s unique approach on modifying cars. He explains in a video about how he styles cars for himself and what he likes which is a philosophy that carried through into this build. It’s a different take on the traditional 911 for a number of reasons.

First Things First

One of the first things that catches your eye is the wideness of this 1990 C4. It’s insane and over the top to a degree that makes even an IMSA RS-R car look slightly reasonable. Massive rear fender flares pour into custom side skirts and a front bumper that looks plain mean. Everything is custom from the wings over the rear fenders to the rear wing itself.

Dripping

Paint is called Sepang Bronze Metallic and grabs your eye as much as the bodywork itself. The traditional “wild” livery of a Rothmans car wasn’t chosen, nor was the race car look of a 917 replicated. Something entirely different was done which stands out in an industrial kind of way. It makes the car look tough and futuristic while maintaining a rugged elegance that Porsche 911s are known for.

Functional Priorities

Built by Misfit Motorsports out of North Carolina this particular example utilizes massive Work Meister S1 E piece custom wheels with RWB engraving wrapped in ultra sticky tires that are barely street legal. Recaro seats with harnesses keep the driver focused on the widebody’s every move with the car sitting low for improved cornering speeds.

East Meets East

This collaborative effort between Misfit Motorsports and RWB to create the ultimate C4 has to be applauded. It’s a visual feast that retains classic 911 shapes with motorsport influence and a hint of show car aesthetic. Staggering effort from two great companies results in one great car. Until next time.
