Amazing Car, Big Money

It's no secret within the automotive collector car realm that the 993-generation Porsche 911 has become incredibly popular in recent years, and as a result, these cars have skyrocketed in value. However, the truly discerning collector is well served to seek out the rare 993 911 Turbo, a car that was produced in scant quantities and routinely rakes in big bucks at auction today. The latest example of this comes to us from Bring a Trailer, where this incredibly nice 1997 911 Turbo S recently sold for a whopping $560k.

Moving Around

Finished in Guards Red, this particular 1997 911 Turbo S is one of just 176 examples produced for the U.S. market, but the fact that it's also in bone stock condition with just 12k miles showing on the odometer makes it more special than most. This particular car was sold new in Florida but has lived in multiple states in the years since.

Unique Styling Cues

As is the case with all Turbo S models from this generation, the model features a host of unique exterior cues compared to the standard Turbo such as its quad-tip exhaust, quarter panel intakes, biplane rear spoiler, an Aerokit front spoiler with revised venting, and fog light placement, and yellow brake calipers. A set of timeless 18-inch wheels wrapped with Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires rounds out the beautiful package.

Interior Features

Inside the cabin, this Turbo S utilizes black leather-covered heated and power-adjustable hard-back sport seats with body-color shells, an array of carbon fiber trim, yellow seat belts, and amenities such as automatic climate control and cruise control. The original radio was replaced with an aftermarket unit, however.

Big Power

Power for this rare ride is provided by Porsche's twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six powerplant, which uses larger K24 turbochargers, a modified Motronic engine management system, and an additional oil cooler to send 424 horsepower and 423 pound-feet of torque to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

Mechanically Speaking

The 993 was the first 911 to utilize a multi-link rear suspension, and this particular car is also equipped with the Automatic Brake Differential (ABD), a limited-slip differential, and a braking system consisting of four-piston calipers with ventilated and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.

Red Hot Market

In spectacular condition with few miles on the odometer, it's no surprise that this 911 Turbo S sold for more than half-million dollars at auction, particularly given the fact that collector interest in these models hasn't waned one bit. In fact, we don't really see the market for the 993 cooling off anytime soon, given how special these cars truly are.
