Eyebrow Raising
With collectible automobiles reaching new heights in terms of value in recent years, it's no surprise that Porsche models have been at the forefront of that trend. After all, many Porsche vehicles - including vintage 911s and more special models like the 959 - were on an upward trajectory long before the pandemic. Regardless, this amazing 959 Komfort that recently crossed the virtual block at Bring a Trailer still managed to raise a lot of eyebrows when it recently sold for a whopping $2.12 million.

Special Example
It was mere months ago that 959 Komfort models were selling for around $800k, but those days are a thing of the past. In all fairness, this particular example is nicer than most, with just 800 original miles on the clock. It presents literally like brand new, and is in spectacular condition inside, out, and underneath.

Globe Hopper
It's also spectacularly rare, as just 337 examples were produced between 1986 and 1988. This particular car was originally sold in Europe before it landed in a museum in Japan. Back in 2015, the 959 was imported into the U.S. and now, the pristine Guards Red Porsche has found yet another home.

Few Footnotes
Despite its immaculate condition, this 959 Komfort does have a few items worth mentioning, starting with the fact that it has a replacement wheel, and the height-adjustable suspension and ABS aren't currently working. The drive control unit has been repaired, while a new hydraulic pump hose was installed a few years ago.

Replacement Parts
Replacement carpet panels, a dome light switch, and rear seat snaps were installed by Canepa, while a few warning lights including electronically controlled suspension settings, tire pressure, and four driver-selectable drive modes are illuminated. Otherwise, however, this 959 is a truly amazing example of its breed.

Legendary Performance
With Porsche's 2.85L M959/50 flat-six underhood, the 959 provided truly amazing performance for its era. Output comes in at 444 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, which was good enough to propel the legendary Porsche from 0-60 less than four seconds and a top speed of 197 mph - making it the fastest production car in the world at that time.

Justified Cost
The Porsche 959 is truly one of the greatest automobiles ever produced - that much is a commonly accepted fact among anyone who has even a fleeting interest in cars. But this pristine and rare example is also one of the best of its breed, which certainly justified its incredible sales price.
