One Step Further

There have always been a handful of companies willing to build us unique vehicles to our own specifications, but that isn't usually the case with full-scale automotive manufacturers. However, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur has been around for some time now for customers that want something spec'd to their own taste. Now, Porsche has expanded Exclusive Manufaktur, Porsche Tequipment, and Porsche Classic in an effort to take the customization process even further.

Co-Creation

The possibilities, as they say, are endless. With new vehicles, customers can choose personalization options for individual components directly in the vehicle's configurator, while new, classic, and used vehicles get their own performance parts range. Porsche has also brought back the Sonderwunsch program of the late 1970s, making it possible to design individualized one-off cars that are co-created by the customer and built professionally by Porsche.

Something for Everyone

"It is our goal to provide customers around the globe with even more accurately tailored and demand-based products within the context of classic, existing, and new cars, and to also offer a comprehensive range of individualization options," said Alexander Fabig, Vice President, Individualization and Classic. "With the new offerings, we are responding to the great global demand for our products. Starting with new possibilities for individualization and personalization of individual components, through the additional range of Performance Parts, up to the realization of uniquely individualized sports cars, we have the right option for every customer."

Countless Options

The possibilities, as they say, are endless. Customization options include various exterior wrap options, individual starting numbers, prints on the floor mats, illuminated door sills, and logo projectors in the vehicle doors. In addition, customers can choose to become designers themselves in the ordering process. The personalization options there include individual design elements such as colors, logos, lettering, and text.

Expansive Selection

In addition to things like personalized wraps and decals, customers can do unique things like have their signature embossed in the vehicle's interior. But that isn't all, either - Porsche Tequipment offers a wide range of performance parts for motorsports enthusiasts and budding racers, while Porsche Classic will offer new developments with a historical reference, components for performance enhancement, and lifestyle products for both young and older classic cars.

One Step Further

Then there's the newly reborn Sonderwunsch program, which will give customers the option to create their own interior and exterior colors and materials in two forms - Factory Re-Commissioning and Factory One-Off. Factory Re-Commissioning is aimed at the implementation of individual colors and materials, while Factory One-Off is a systematic technical new development. Depending on the age of the vehicle in question, either the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur or Porsche Classic takes care of the implementation.

Unique Opportunity

The possibilities here are tantalizing - a customer can work directly with Porsche to design a car to their own specification, which doesn't just include things like choosing colors and embossing - but also things like conducting wind tunnel and track testing. As far as how much that might cost, well, Porsche won't say, as it all depends on how far a customer wants to go. But for those with the means, these programs offer one heck of a unique opportunity to build the one-off Porsche of their dreams.
