Widebody Porsches conjure up mixed emotions, but we can't help but be impressed by these crazy concepts.

Impressive Concepts

We've seen our fair share of widebody renderings recently as the look slowly takes over the automotive world. Among the many talented artists heading up this trend, Khyzyl Saleem is one of the best. Saleem routinely dreams up some of the wildest concepts you've ever seen, then posts the results to his Instagram page. His work is so impressive, in fact, that some of his concepts have actually been built.

Perfect Pair

Saleem is more than happy to widebody any make or model, but he's recently rendered up a bevy of Porsches. That includes this classic 911 Carrera RSR, looks absolutely wicked with its new bodywork. But as we already know, wide fenders and Porsches just go together like peanut butter and jelly, anyway.

Packaging Issue

Saleem's "shooting brake" 964 is perhaps his wildest (and most controversial) creation to date, however. Apparently, it's supposed to be a hearse of some sort, but the fact that it's rear-engined might present a bit of a problem. But that's not Saleem's department, after all. Somebody else can figure out the packaging aspect of this creation.

Almost OEM

The final example of Saleem's widebody Porsche trio is this 944, which has the best chance of seeing the light of day. It's much more subdued than the others, offering up a look that might strike some as simply OEM. Well, except for those Turbofan wheels, that is.

Drawing Inspiration

We Porsche fans will undoubtedly notice the new front lip spoiler, side skirt extensions, and lower rear valance, however. As well as that unique exhaust set up in the rear that was specifically inspired by the 917 race car.

Production Ready?

The overall look of this 944 is what Saleem calls "OEM+." And that makes a lot of sense, really. At the same time, Saleem openly asks if anyone thinks there'd be a real interest in this kit making it to production. Personally, we'd have to say yes.

Good to Great

We certainly enjoy checking out these literal works of art, even if they are just renderings at this stage. Saleem obviously has real talent and a knack for knowing how to make great looking cars even better looking. And that's certainly not easy to do when you're talking about Porsche's legendary designs.
