Smashing Success

To date, Porsche's Taycan has proven to be a smashing success. The all-electric sedan has already become the brand's best-selling model in Europe, where buyers have fully bought in to EVs. So naturally, we would expect to see even more variants in the future, perhaps even a track-focused GT model.

Interesting Reference

But would Porsche really create a Taycan GT? That's apparently at least a possibility, at least according to this recent video featuring Jay Kay, frontman of the band Jamiroquai. In the video, Kay gets to drive a Taycan Turbo S and drag race a 911 GT2 RS at Silverstone but makes an interesting reference worth noting.

Big Hint

At the 5:58 mark, Kay says "Lord only knows what happens when the Taycan GT comes out." It's an interesting little thing to say, of course, and could have just been in jest. But why would Porsche choose to leave this quote in the video and not edit it out?

Pure Speculation

We doubt that Porsche would intentionally tip their hat if a Taycan GT was in the works, and it's more likely that they were just trying to mess with us. For now, at least, the only two future Taycan models that we're aware of are the Cross Turismo and perhaps a base model for other parts of the world aside from China, where it's already on sale.

Easy to Imagine

If Porsche was to build a Taycan GT, however, it's pretty easy to figure out what it might be like. That car would certainly feature a beefed-up suspension, some weight savings measures, a big wing, and a more spartan, focused interior. We can certainly imagine such a thing existing, but the question is, will it?

Track Day EV

For now, at least, the answer is probably not. But you can bet your bottom dollar that Porsche isn't done cranking out Taycan variants, and they're only going to improve the model's performance for future generations. And then, maybe EV fans will get the hardcore track day sedan of their dreams.
