The Birth of a Concept
Fernando "Fercho" Urquiza, the mastermind behind Essen Garage in Querétaro, Mexico, unveiled an extraordinary creation: the Porsche 928 Monolite Project. Born from a standard 1980 Porsche 928 S, this project showcases Urquiza's inventive prowess and passion for redefining automotive boundaries.
Crafting an Off-Road 928
Urquiza's transformation of the 928 S into a rally and off-road beast was an arduous two-year endeavor. The vehicle underwent extensive modifications, including a lifted suspension, bespoke five-arm wheels clad in Kumho all-terrain tires, and widened fenders to accommodate taller and wider tires. The front and rear underwent remarkable changes, featuring a custom front bumper with an integrated 10,000lb WARN winch and HELLA auxiliary lights. Notably, the rear cargo area was converted into a pickup-style bed, while a customized roof rack doubled as a carrier for spare tires and additional equipment.
Customizations
The Monolite Project boasts a thoroughly revamped interior, adorned with Alcantara leather throughout, OMP racing seats with five-point harnesses, and a MOMO steering wheel. The vehicle's functionality merges seamlessly with modernity through enhancements like the Porsche Classic stereo, Apple CarPlay, and GPS, offering a blend of safety, comfort, and cutting-edge technology.
Pushing the Limits
Urquiza's creation exhibits a meticulously rebuilt 5.4-liter V8 engine paired with a manual gearbox, elevating the car's performance to unprecedented levels. The amalgamation of bespoke features, including the matte gunmetal gray paint and a bespoke titanium exhaust, ensures both a striking appearance and enhanced capabilities.
A Showcase
The Monolite Project embarked on a journey, gracing the 2023 Hot Wheels Legends Tour across major cities. Beyond its visual allure, this Porsche stands as a testament to automotive engineering, transcending conventional boundaries and leaving an indelible mark in the world of customized vehicles.
A Unique Design
Fercho Urquiza's safari-style Porsche 928 Monolite Project epitomizes the marriage of unconventional creativity and automotive excellence. Its evolution from a classic grand tourer to a high-performance rally car showcases the ingenuity and limitless possibilities within the realm of car customization and engineering.
