Sonderwunsch
Porsche's Sonderwunsch program, which fulfills special customization requests from customers, sets the company apart by also creating one-off classic cars. One such exceptional project is the 1999 Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe, based on a junked 996-gen base 911 Carrera. The Porsche Club of America collaborated with the Sonderwunsch team to transform it into a unique 996 911, designed by Grant Larson, the creator of the original Boxster and a member of the Carrera GT design team.

Handmade
The restoration of the 996 911 went beyond mere refurbishment. Porsche crafted a completely distinctive vehicle featuring a handmade ducktail spoiler reminiscent of the iconic 1973 911 RS 2.7 and a handmade double-bubble roof. The car also boasts a 996.1 911 GT3 front bumper, side skirts, blue pinstriping, and black 18-inch Fuchs wheels. Inside, the interior is entirely bespoke, with pepita-pattern seats and door panels, blue stitching, and a unique steering wheel.
3.6
Underneath the ducktail spoiler lies the highlight of the Club Coupe—the Mezger-designed 3.6-liter flat-six engine from the 996.2-generation 911 GT3. Generating 381 horsepower and capable of revving up to 8,000 rpm, this powerplant is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
In an Alternate Universe
The one-of-a-kind Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe represents a hypothetical scenario of what could have been if the Sonderwunsch program existed in previous decades. It combines the best elements of the 996-generation 911 to create a perfect '90s Porsche recipe.
Up For Auction
The auction price for this extraordinary vehicle is uncertain, as there is no comparable precedent. While the 992-generation 911 Sport Classic starts at $274,750, this unique project, with its "001/001" badge signifying its exclusivity, could command a seven-digit price tag. Nevertheless, the prospect of owning a one-off, meticulously designed 996-generation 911, created by Grant Larson, may justify such a substantial investment.
