Radical Design, Ultra-Limited Production

California-based Oilstainlab, founded by twin brothers Nikita and Iliya Bridan in 2019, has gained attention for its Porsche-inspired Half-11 prototype, a car that is both daring in concept and extreme in execution. Now, the company is set to release this car in a limited production run of just 25 units, with each car designed to push the boundaries of road-legal performance. The car’s specs are audacious: 650 horsepower and a weight of just 2,000 pounds (907 kg), which would make it one of the most extreme cars on the road today.

A Porsche Heritage with a Twist

The Half-11’s design roots lie in a Porsche 911, but Oilstainlab took the concept to an entirely new level by building a car that answers the question, "What if Porsche only ever made the 911?" The prototype's origins can be traced back to a heavily modified 911, with a rear subframe and an LS V8 engine. The result is a car that draws inspiration from Porsche race cars but is uniquely its own, blending modern 911 RSR elements with a classic 917 feel. Oilstainlab has already showcased the Half-11 at prestigious events, including the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it turned heads.

Dual Powertrain Flexibility

What sets the Half-11 apart, beyond its radical design, is the innovative dual powertrain offering. Buyers can opt for either a gasoline engine or an electric motor, or both. The gas-powered variant will feature a 4.5-liter flat-six engine capable of producing 650 horsepower and revving up to 12,000 rpm. For those seeking an even wilder ride, the electric variant boasts 850 horsepower. And for the select few willing to invest a cool $2.3 million, both powertrains are available, thanks to a novel subframe swapping system known as "Thunder-Volt," inspired by rapid subframe swaps in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

Craftsmanship and Customization

The brothers behind Oilstainlab have drawn on their design experience with automotive giants like Cadillac, Toyota, and Genesis to build a truly bespoke machine. Unlike the prototype, which sported a limited color palette, the production Half-11 will be available in a range of custom colors and configurations. Buyers will also have a choice of transmission: a six-speed manual or a seven-speed sequential gearbox. The car will feature a carbon fiber monocoque chassis that has been two years in the making, further emphasizing its exclusivity and craftsmanship.

The Challenge Ahead

Despite the excitement surrounding the Half-11, Oilstainlab still faces significant development hurdles. The company is yet to finalize certain details, such as the manufacturer for the engine, and production is not expected to start until at least 2026. However, the Bridan brothers remain optimistic, assembling a global team of experts and referring to their customers as "maniacs"—individuals with a deep passion for cutting-edge automotive technology. With only 25 units to be built, finding the right buyers has become part of their strategy, aiming to form a close-knit community of enthusiasts.

A Vision for the Future

Oilstainlab is charting its own course in the hyper-competitive world of boutique car manufacturers. "We’re building a family here," said Nikita Bridan. This familial approach to both production and customer relationships sets the company apart. As they move forward, the brothers are hoping to find a balance between creating cutting-edge technology and fostering a community of like-minded car lovers. Though there are still many unknowns surrounding the production timeline and final specifications, one thing is certain: the Half-11 is a bold statement in the world of ultra-limited hypercars.
