New Lego Set

A Porsche 911 Turbo and a Targa Lego set would be cool enough as individual sets. But with this new Lego package, both cars will be available to build within the same set. The new 911 Lego kit gives players the option to start their build as a Targa, and switch to a Turbo at any point in the process.

2 For 1

The new Lego set is based on the '70s-'80s Porsche 911. And this will be the first kit of its kind with such high level of detail. The model will have built-in functionalities such as opening doors, hood, and trunk, as well as a working steering wheel. And tucked underneath the rear hatch is a flat-6 boxter motor.

Same Base

To begin, the player will be putting together the base, which is mostly the same for both Targa and Turbo options. Eventually, when it comes to assembling the roof, the choice will have to be made. Going for the Turbo option will mean adding the fixed roof, the whale tale, and the wider fenders. The final touch on the Turbo is the black wheels.

Distinguishing Touches

For the Targa, the removable top can e stored under the hood. But aside from the easily spotted differences between the two, everything else is shared. They both come with a tan interior, which features the functional steering wheel, a shifter, and a handbrake.

Easter Eggs

Mike Psiaki, the Lego designer behind this set has planted Easter eggs in the license plates that come with the kit. There will be plates for three different countries: the USA, Germany, and Japan. For the US, the license plate will read "P51AK3." The German version will read: "S-CU 6000," and the Japanese model will have "Gunma 93 10-295" on the plate. The American plate is more obvious, but the German and Japanese versions have a more complicated code to figure out, at least for us Americans!
