Reviving a Legend
Back in 2018, Porsche brought back one of its legendary racecars, the 935, based on the 911 GT2 RS road car. This modern iteration captured the hearts of enthusiasts with its homage to the original's design and performance. Fast forward to 2022, and UK-based Lanzante has achieved a remarkable feat by converting two of these track-only machines into road-legal versions, showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Road-Legal Version
Lanzante, renowned for transforming track-only vehicles into street-legal wonders, spent 18 months converting the two Porsche 935s. Known for previous conversions like the Pagani Zonda Revolucion and the McLaren P1, Lanzante’s meticulous work on the 935 involved significant modifications. These changes included a unique suspension, new wheels, a braking system, a hand brake, electronics system, and the creation of headlights from scratch—essential for road use but absent in the original racecar.

Power and Exclusivity
The road-legal Porsche 935s retain the heart of the original: a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine from the GT2 RS, producing a formidable 700 horsepower. With only 77 examples ever made, the 935s are a rare sight, making Lanzante's conversions even more special. The attention to detail, especially in the handmade headlights, showcases Lanzante’s dedication to preserving the essence of the car while adapting it for everyday use.
Iconic Liveries
Both 935s displayed at Goodwood sport iconic motorsport liveries. One car features a red and white design reminiscent of the Marlboro chevron, reimagined without cigarette branding, while the other boasts a modern take on the classic Martini livery. These liveries not only honor the car's racing heritage but also add a nostalgic touch for fans and collectors alike.
Lanzante’s Display
Lanzante’s stand at Goodwood didn’t just feature the road-legal 935s. It also showcased a range of McLaren vehicles, including the P1 HDK, a recommissioned Speedtail, an F1 GTR-97, a P1 GTR-18, and a Senna GTR. These cars, along with the TAG Turbo powered by a 1980s Formula 1 engine, highlighted Lanzante’s expertise in bringing racing legends to life. A new version of the TAG Turbo, called the TAG Championship, limited to 11 units, was also unveiled.
Goodwood Highlights
In addition to the road-legal 935s and McLaren models, Lanzante introduced a collaboration with ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett on the ‘MadMac’ driftcar. This partnership celebrates a decade since Mad Mike first brought drifting to Goodwood, adding to the diverse and exciting lineup. Lanzante's impressive display ensured that the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 was a memorable event for car enthusiasts, showcasing the blend of innovation, heritage, and performance.
