Exterior Wash; Getting Started

Foams and heavy suds are where it's at for washing your car. The heavy foam grabs and removes the dirt from the car as it moves downward. This aids in maintaining the paint's integrity; less scrubbing is needed and foam is gentle on your car's surface. The cleanser recommended the most for its ability to do just that was Chemical Guys- Maxi-Suds II Super Suds Car Wash Shampoo.

Members also recommended microfiber clothes for everything that touches your car's surface.

The Two-Bucket Method

This process is done by using one bucket for car shampoo and the other for clean water. The purpose is to wash and rinse simultaneously to prevent soap drying and streaking the car's surface. Keeping two buckets handy will also mean that you won't make more work for yourself by putting water contaminated with dirt and bits back onto your car. This is the most efficient method to remove debris and dirt without scratching or damaging the integrity of the paint.

Chemical Guys TORQ Professional Foam Cannon

Highly recommended by forum members is TORQ Professional Foam Cannon by the Chemical Guys is a fantastic addition to your car wash. The foam gun can be used in addition to your two-bucket method, or it can replace your soap bucket. It is still recommended that one use the clean water bucket in addition to the foam gun for optimal results.

Master Blaster Car Blower/Dryer

Say goodbye to water spots and streaks! Once you have washed your car, you'll ready to wax, right? Wrong. It is incredibly important that the car's surface is completely dry for the best protective shine possible. Using cloths, even microfiber, can leave streaks and missed spots that can cause damage. With the Master Blaster by the Chemical Guys, you can rest assured that your car will be completely dry before water spots have a chance to settle, leaving your car ready for waxing.

P21S Concour Carnauba Wax

P21S is the first of it's kind to be made from 100% carnauba wax. This easy-to-use product has a deep, warm, glossy shine. The small applicator applies on smoothly and takes very little product. It seems like more of a liquid glass than wax as it glides across the paint. After allowing it to dry, buff it off with a clean microfiber towel for a deep lasting shine.

Keeping Up the Interior

Keeping up the interior of a vehicle can be challenging. The more time you spend in your car, the more likely it is to show wear. The integrity of a leather interior is reliant upon cleansers and conditioners. Sonax Foam Leather Cleaner is excellent for cleaning a leather interior, it's strong enough to do its job but gentle enough to preserve the condition of the leather itself. Masters Leather Cream works to condition and protects your leather from the elements. This keeps the leather from drying, cracking while giving it a slight shine.

For those with vinyl, Einszett Cockpit Premium is the way to go. Using this will help you to clean, protect, and preserve for a lasting interior.

Cleaning the Wheels

Using a small brush helps get debris from hard to reach areas. Using special tire cleaners is completely unnecessary, however, a good protectant is crucial. RejeX is an ultra-thin polymer sealant. It is anti-stick, so brake dust will not adhere to your wheels. Also, it can be used on the entire exterior of the car to keep bird droppings, tree sap, oil, etc from sticking to your paint. When using a wheel sealant, regular car shampoo will clean the wheels easily.
