Held at different locations each year, this group meets to share some of the heritage of the brand as well as showcase a bit of motorsport history. What kind of cars are we talking about? How about the uber-rare 356 Gmund SL coupe that kicked ass in the 50s at Le Mans?

The get together also showcases cars like the 917/30 that brought Penske victory in the Can-Am series. To this day, this car is still one of the fastest cars ever to be road raced. Laying eyes on this priceless racecar, let alone getting an invitation to get up close to it is rare. You can see why they would be secretive!

Preservation for the Generations

When Patrick Long created this club, he had a great idea that now preserves many cars that helped push Porsche towards the excellence they are now known for. Apparently, unlike many clubs, there are younger members (under 30 in Porsche talk) that belong to this group. These members are part of a DIY generation of owners who have begun to shift the market as they mature and earn more money.

How do you get in?

From what I can tell, if it was once a secret club, the club is not as secret as it once was. Their last show (in May of 2017) was so big it was held in Warehouse #10 at the Port of Los Angeles. If you are only just hearing about the club in this article, it looks like you are out of luck until their public show next year. Looks like you missed a good time with quality people!

Air cooled only

It should be noted that Luftgekühlt highlights only air cooled cars, which makes it a time capsule for the best 911s that will be remembered in decades to come. They are always changing the lineup of what is on display, so next year will have different rare and classic cars that will be just as worth while to see. The History of the 911 is important to study if you truly want to learn and understand why so many people love them. See you at Luftgekühlt in 2018!!!
