Daily Slideshow: Idlers Converge on Tsukuba Circuit

At two miles the track isn’t the longest or most challenging in the world, however, the competition is absolutely ferocious. Everyone brings their A-game to extract the last tenth of a second at Idlers. Let’s look at some of the cars…

RWB

RWB has made a strong presence at the games for several years now. As a seasoned competitor, the company fields multiple cars with several drivers manning each car as the day progresses. Standing out like a sore thumb is the purple 993 the company's owner calls “Rotana.” It produces 575 horsepower and runs a 345mm wide rear tire. No, that is not a typo.

A bit of everything

Rotana is an example of a 911 turned up to 11, but what about the rest of the cars present? Fortunately, there’s a great mix up of high-end racers and mildly modified street cars. While Idlers isn’t a Porsche specific event the marque does take up a majority of the parking spaces on any given weekend making for an eclectic variety of Boxsters and Caymans to round things out.

Vintage too

It’s not just new(er) P-cars that get represented here either. 914s make a showing as do vintage 70s 911s. There is no denying the appeal of the rear engine sports car stretches all the way around the world!

930 Cup

One of the best classes at Idlers Games is the 930/9 Cup that is a field entirely comprised of the 930s that have been modified to various levels. With a field of 20 different cars, all gunning for a position, the racing here is close and very exciting to watch. Seeing a group of these cars all going full throttle trying to out-brake each other is something you won’t find many places in the world. This place really has it all! Here is a link to a video where you can check out the kind of aggressive driving going down at the idler Games. However, if you want more Porsche goodness and a far longer video, then may I present to you this one from the 2017 idlers Porsche day!

When to Watch

Racing takes place during March each year and is usually uploaded through different amateur channels on YouTube. Idlers don’t get massive television coverage which means despite how nice the cars are this is still very much a grassroots style event without big name sponsors. It’s awesome to see people all over the world enjoying 911s on the track and racing them so closely! Be sure to follow this great series from where ever you are in the world!
