In the hierarchy of sports cars (and Porsche machines in particular), the mighty 930 Turbo stands at or near the top of everyone's list. And you certainly won't find many finer examples than this Guards Red beauty we recently came across at Mecum Auctions. It's truly a stunning piece of history that's been handled with a white glove in its decades on this planet.

No Signs of Age
Stored in a climate-controlled garage its entire life, this 31,000-mile beauty looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. And that's an incredible feat all in itself. Generally, time isn't kind to old cars, even if you don't drive them much. But this beautiful Porsche looks like it just emerged from a refreshing nap and shows no signs of its advanced age at all.

Time Machine
A black interior is the perfect complement to that stunning exterior, and it's no less beautiful. Slipping behind the wheel of this 930 is probably akin to taking a trip back to a completely different era, a time when cars were more about the connected driving experience and less about computers and screens.

Skill Required
Lift the rear lid, and you'll find the legendary turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six. Back in these early days of turbocharging, power delivery wasn't exactly linear. But that's what makes driving a 930 so incredibly joyous, and we can certainly appreciate a car that demands skillful hands and feet to reach its limits.

Joyous Experience
The mighty mill is backed up by, of course, a four-speed manual transmission. Working through the gears of that cog box is no doubt a joyous experience, one that only adds to the connection you feel between man, machine, and pavement. And you already know that these air-cooled mills are some of the best sounding engines ever produced.

Premium Offering
Aside from being some of the most gorgeous cars ever built, the 930 was also quite the luxurious machine. Bespoke with a fine leather interior, air conditioning, a sunroof, premium sound system, headlight washers, and power everything, it sat atop the Porsche lineup in its day as a premium offering.

Resisting the Urge
To us, at least, the 930 Turbo exemplifies Porsche perfection perfectly. And most people tend to agree with that notion, as cars like this one don't exactly come cheaply. But it's nice to see that at least a few have been pampered over the years, driven very little. Because personally, we wouldn't be able to resist the urge to rack up miles on this incredible machine.
