Full-Size 917 Replicas Are Giant Pieces of Art
Now, you can put a 917 body in your own living room.
Work of Art
The Porsche 917 is an icon in the world of motorsports - not just the world of Porsche - after leaving an indelible mark on it years ago. However, the 917 isn't just an amazing performer - it's also a stunningly beautiful car, one that is widely considered to be one of the best looking ever conceived. And that's precisely why the folks at After the Race are selling full-size 917 body replicas to interested customers.

Very Limited
Officially called the 917ATR, these recreations are 1:1 scale sculptures for the discerning collector, but as one might imagine, the Belgian company isn't going to produce them in large quantities. Rather, just 12 will be built in total, each sporting unique touches that make them more of a one-of-one type of offering.

Hyper Realistic
It's reportedly taken four years and 4,000 hours of work to bring this idea to life, but the results quite simply speak for themselves. No one would ever guess that these bodies aren't the real thing - they just look that hyperrealistic.

Hand Built
These 917 bodies are made entirely by hand, with no machines, digital scans, or CAD involved. The idea is to pay tribute to the manufacturing processes of the 1970s, and the 917ATR does precisely that with an aluminum tube frame that helps support the body panels.

Variety of Looks
From there, the team at ATR painstakingly applies all the details and paint, which of course features some simulated patina to maintain the vintage race car vibe. A variety of liveries - including the iconic Gulf and Martini look - are available, as well as past Le Mans winners and even Steve McQueen's movie car.

Available Now
ATR doesn't list prices for its masterful creation on its site, but we imagine that these massive works of art won't be cheap. Regardless, those interested in purchasing one can do so now, securing their unique, one-off piece of art in around six months time.
