Gemballa's Widebody (Or Not) Wonder

For 99% of the world's population, a new Porsche 911 Turbo is more than fast enough...or even too fast. However, for the rest of us, there are tuners like Gemballa who make insanely fast cars even faster. And now they're offering a massive power upgrade for the already massively powered Turbo. Even better, it's available as either a standalone engine option or as part of this widebody clad ride known as the Gemballa GT Concept.

If you'd prefer something a little low key

If you're the type of person who likes to keep your car's potential under wraps (or if you don't like extravagant body kits), Gemballa has just the solution for you. And it's called the GTR 8XX Evo-R BiTurbo kit. For around $60k, this kit for the 991 Turbo S cranks power all the way up to 828 hp and 952 lb-ft of torque. That's a huge jump from the stock Turbo S and its ratings of 530 hp and 516 lb-ft. There is a body kit that comes with those upgrades but it's optional if you'd just want to take the peformance upgrades.

Then again, if you like your power with a side of flair, Gemballa also offers the same engine upgrade in the form of an entire car. Called the GT Concept, it carries a full complement of Gemballa body bits, including a modified front and rear bumper, side skirts, adjustable wing, carbon-fiber insert hood, and fenders that widen the car by 30mm up front and 50mm in the rear. Filling up that enlarged bodywork is a set of 21" GRS-F1 forged wheels with 255/30 ZR21 tires up front and 325/25 ZR21 meat out in the back.

So How Does It Work?

To extract maximum power from Porsche's flat-six, the gang at Gemballa uses a variety of upgrades and wizardry. Instead of simply slapping on bigger turbos or a basic tune, they do a whole lot of finessing what's already there. That includes a change in compression, enlarging the inlet/outlet ports, installing larger valves, reinforced connecting rods, and an intake rework. They also installed a sport exhaust system and remapped the engine control unit and gearbox.

It's fast...very very fast

So just how fast does all of this kit make your 991 Turbo? How about 0-60 in 2.4 seconds, with a top speed of 228 miles per hour? That's not only much faster than a stock Turbo, but it's also faster than the mighty 918 Spyder (though a couple of tenths slower to 60). And it's a couple of tenths quicker to 60 than a new Turbo S, too. So whether you're determined to keep your 991 at all costs or if you want something a little different, Gemballa has your solution ready.
