Flashback Friday: 80 Year's Old and 80 Porsches Owned
This Porsche fanatic bought his first car in 1972 and just hit a major milestone.
Magic Number
For many, Porsche is a lifelong love affair, and many of us have/will own a number of them during our time on this giant rock in space. But few, if any, will ever own as many as a Viennese native named Ottocar J. Now 80 years-old, Ottocar just purchased his 80th Porsche - a Boxster Spyder - which is a truly astounding feat.

Major Milestones
Ottocar's first Porsche was a Speed Yellow 911 E that he purchased back in 1972. From there, he just kept buying cars, to the point where he built a separate structure near his home to store them. He took delivery of his first new Porsche in 1977 - a Carrera 3.0 - and he picked up his new Boxster Spyder from Porsche's Zuffenhausen factory.

Retention Rate
Ottocar hasn't kept all of those 80 cars over the years, of course, but impressively still has 38 of them in his personal garage. Many of them are truly special machines as well, including a 917, a rare V8-powered 910, a 956, 904, and 964 Cup. And if that isn't enough, he's also had a total of nine different Carrera RS models.

Picking a Favorite
Of those 38 cars, Ottocar drives nine of them on a regular basis, including his 911R and 991 911 Speedster. But while he notes that his 981 Boxster Spyder is one of his favorite cars to drive, he refuses to pick a favorite, much like a proud father who doesn't divulge his favorite child.

Other Goodies
Perhaps that should come as no surprise given the fact that Ottocar has also dabbled in racing during his lifetime. But aside from his cars, Ottocar's garage is also filled with Porsche memorabilia, including historic advertisements, trophies, and posters, as well as a makeshift movie "theater" showing Steve McQueen's Le Mans.

Slowing Down?
Typically, 80-year-olds think about slowing down when it comes to collecting cars or even driving them as they reach that lofty age, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Ottocar. "When you are 80-years-old, you don’t think so much about the past anymore but more about the future. You look forward to things that are still to come," he said.
