Ferrari F1 Driver Owned and Loved This Porsche 911
Eddie Irvine had a dream garage in his racing heyday that consisted of this immaculate Turbo and a Lamborghini Countach.
Dream Garage
While Porsche certainly has its fair share of rivals, even those folks can't help but respect the iconic German automaker. That's true even of former Ferrari F1 driver Eddie Irvine, who owned this immaculate Euro-spec 1983 Porsche 911 Turbo, which was recently sold at Bring a Trailer. Irvine purchased the 911 as the perfect complement to his Lamborghini Countach at the time, which was painted a very similar shade of blue, making his garage the stuff of dreams back in the early 1980s.

Coming to America
Irvine originally intended to import the car into Ireland, but instead, wound up bringing it to the U.S. in 1986. It has remained in the states ever since, recently receiving a fresh paint job that complements the car's many timeless styling elements including its giant "whale tail" rear wing, Euro-spec bumperettes, and 16-inch Fuchs wheels wrapped with Toyo Proxes T1R tires measuring 225/30 up front and 245/45 in the rear.

Revised Cabin
In terms of braking, the 911 is fitted with cross-drilled rotors at all four corners with Porsche calipers. Peek inside, and you'll find a black cabin fitted with a new dashboard, power windows, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, and an odometer that reads 50k miles, though actual mileage is unknown.

Mostly Original
The bucket seats remain in excellent condition, as does the rest of the interior. Everything save for the dashboard is apparently original as well, including the three-spoke steering wheel, carpet, and door panels, which are all finished in the same shade.

Recent Service
The 911 Turbo's legendary 3.3-liter flat-six remains intact as well and is fresh off a recent service which included replacing the clutch cable, shift bushings, C/V boots, valve cover gasket, ignition rotor, distributor cap, and spark plugs and wires.

Brisk Performance
The turbocharged flat-six sends its power to the rear wheels via a G930/34 four-speed manual transmission for brisk performance that was hard to match back in its prime by pretty much anything, save for the most exotic and expensive vehicles on the market.

Big Price
Any 911 Turbo of this vintage attracts a lot of attention at auction, and the fact that this one was owned by a successful F1 driver only helped its cause. When the hammer fell, this classic Porsche sold for a significant $126,000. But at least the new owner can relish the fact that it was, for much of its life, owned by a motorsports legend.
