911 As Art
We have to admit, at first glance, we thought these images were real-life physical installations built using the bodies of old 911s. But the fact that they're digital renderings doesn't make them any less creative. If anything, we're glad no Porsches were harmed in the creation of these art pieces! For skilled artist Chris Labrooy, the unmistakable character of the 911 is a favorite subject.
Combining Sculpture and Digital Media
Labrooy started his journey with an eye towards becoming an automotive designer, having been inspired by a particular episode of Top Gear. But along the way, his passion for design slowly morphed into his creative digital work. He was introduced to sculpture, and later to CGI. And he realized the combination of his acquired skills in both media would provide opportunities for a new creative outlet.

Bright Resume
In the digital world, Labrooy is not bound by the same laws of physics or financial limitations as we are in real life. And he's able to express himself in fun and ridiculous ways, often involving iconic cars. Over time, his elite-level skills in his craft saw him working on ad campaigns for global entities such as Nike, Apple, Jaguar, Citroen, T-Mobile, AT&T, British Airways, Target, McDonald’s, Time Magazine, and naturally, Porsche.

A Love For the Porsche
Labrooy's infatuation with the Porsche 911 is evident in his work. Although his creations include other automobiles as well, the 911s are usually the marquee stars of his pieces, often on display in airy, modern architectural backgrounds, with the warm afternoon sunlight over a Southern California setting.

Unique Character
The artistic style of Chris Labrooy has become nearly as unique and instantly recognizable as the Porsche 911 itself. "It’s a very soft, rounded shape that’s a highly capable, high-performance sports car at the same time," he describes, speaking about his love for the Porsche. "The 911 has a unique, almost eccentric personality. When I’m making my images, the cars are like actors in a way, and the 911 is like an A-list Hollywood star, with all this depth and versatility.”

Expression of Joy
As much visual fun as the joyful imagery and bright colors of Labrooy's work bring to his audience, working on these pieces serves as escapism for the artist as well. A native of rural Aberdeenshire in Scotland, he's far from the sunny, dry hills of Los Angeles. But Labrooy's entertaining images and videos can be viewed as his outward expression of the joy in his heart.
