Collection of Oddball Vintage Porsche Models Up for Auction
RM Sotheby’s recently announced it will host the highly renowned Taj Ma Garaj Collection auction. The one-day event, to be hosted on September 28, will feature a variety of cars, automobilia, and collectibles of late well-known collector, John Dixon. Among the highlight items – Dixon’s collection of unique and one-off Porsches. Click through to check some of them out and learn about Dixon’s story.

Dixon bought his first Porsche began seriously building his collection in the 1990s. Aptly referred to as the Taj Ma Garaj, the destination was once considered the premier place to go for an eclectic collection of Porsches, featuring over 30 various Porsche and Volkswagen vehicles, along with 350+ lots of memorabilia.

Well-known for his sense of humor, Dixon lived a very unique lifestyle. Not only was he passionate about Porsche, he cared deeply about all aspects of his life. First and foremost, was his family and friends. Then there was his business followed by his philanthropic efforts to help those in need; specifically, he focused on patients of the local children’s hospital.

1957 Porsche 356 A Carrera GT Speedster by Reutter
What’s super exciting is that all of these cars are going to auction without a reserve. That said, don’t hold your breath on catching one for a discount. The likelihood of one of these Porsches selling for less than $100k is slim. For instance, the folks at RM Sotheby’s is expecting the ’57 Reutter-bodied Speedster you see here to go for a cool $2 million. So, enjoy the pictures, but don’t expect to get the keys.
