New Car, New Color

While pretty much every other car show on the planet has been cancelled this year, the Chengdu Motor Show in China managed to go on. So Porsche took advantage by showing off not only the as-of-now China-exclusive entry-level Taycan, but also a very interesting Frozen Berry Metallic paint job.

Eye of the Beholder

The color, to us at least, look pretty pink. As such, it's pretty much an "eye of the beholder" kind of situation - either you love it, or maybe hate it. But kudos to Porsche for doing something different, and we imagine the car attracted a ton of attention at the show regardless.

Bold Choices

The interior of this unique Porsche is finished in purple and gray leather with purple carpet, which is also an interesting choice. But if you're going to go bold, you might as well go bold in every aspect.

League of Its Own

As for the car itself, the entry level Taycan is a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor version of Porsche's all-electric sedan that features a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PSM) on the rear axle. It's currently the only RWD model in the Taycan lineup.

Two Choices

The base model offers a choice between a 79.2 kWh battery pack (Performance Battery) and a 93.4 kWh pack (Performance Battery Plus). The Performance Battery offers up 300 kW (402 horsepower), while the Performance Battery Plus enables 350 kW (469 horsepower). The latter is good enough for a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 149 miles-per-hour.

Talking Range

The Performance Battery will travel up to 414 kilometers (257 miles) on a full charge, while the Performance Battery Plus will go up to 489 kilometers (304 miles). However, these ratings are based on the generous New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) rating system, so they may drop when converted to EPA or WLTP standards.

One Country Exclusive

The base Taycan comes equipped with Porsche's Active Suspension Management system and is available with torque vectoring plus, rear-axle steering and dynamic chassis control sport. As of right now, it's only available in China, with a base price of 888,000 RMB, or $127,064, which is more than the Taycan 4S sells for here in the U.S. ($105,150).
