Momentous Occasion

Each year before the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Gooding & Company puts on a rather special auction that has become increasingly synonymous with hosting the most special Porsche vehicles in history. This year was no exception, as the personal collection of Rudy Mancina's was featured at the auction, consisting of a total of 18 different amazing Porsches with some BMWs mixed in as well.

Wide Variety

Mancina's collection consisted of a wide variety of Porsche's finest, ranging from an Irish Green 1968 912 Soft-Window Targa to a 1990 964 Carrera 4 and quite a few in between. All are rare or special in their own regard, while Mancina also applied his own personal touches to quite a few of them over the years.

Beating the Estimate

Mancina's 993 Carrera 2S is one of 759 built for North America in the 1997 model year and is finished in Ocean Jade Metallic. It's fitted with a host of desirable features including a six-speed manual, painted hardback sport seats, the Motorsound package, and the HiFi sound package. Thus, it's hardly surprising that this beautiful car blew away its auction estimate and sold for $207k.

Last of a Legend

Next up we have Mancina's 993 Carrera 4S - finished in a rare shade of Glacier White - which is one of just 298 Carrera 4S models built for North American consumption in 1998, which just so happened to be the last for the air-cooled Porsche. No surprise, then, that this very nice example hammered for $145,600.

Special and Rare

Mancina also dabbled in some of the less popular body styles, as we can see from this stunning 996 GT3 that has just 16,247 miles on the clock and is one of only 1,018 built for North America and 96 finished in Speed Yellow. No wonder then that buyers took notice, with the sales price of this car reaching $156k.

Special Color

Mancina's 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 is also a pretty rare machine, as it's one of around 2,200 built in the U.S. spec. It's finished in a special order color dubbed Velvet Red Metallic and shows just 58k miles on the clock, which helped it crest the $100k mark at auction.

Cresting the Mark

Finally, we have Mancina's 1996 993 Carrera 4S, which is finished in Polar Silver Metallic and is one of just 1,091 examples produced for North America in this particular model year. This stellar car also exceeded the six-figure mark, selling for just over $109k when the hammer fell.
