A Trip Out to the Ozarks For This TechArt Targa
What's better than a road trip in a Porsche? How about a road trip in a TechArt tuned Targa?
1. Road Trippin' in a TechArt 911 Targa 4S
German-based Porsche tuner TechArt has been churning out high quality builds since the late 80s, and my what fine pieces of machinery they are. This particular 911 Targa 4S is a perfect example of what the well established company is capable of, and Jim Rand of PCA was lucky enough to not only gets his hands on the fine ride, but also wring it out around the beautiful Ozark Mountains of southern Mississippi. The full account of his journey, along with some amazing pictures, can be found over at the Porsche Club of America site.
2. Year Long Obsession
This particular car isn't just some slapped together kit, either. Dr. Shachar Tauber, began his journey to ownership by traveling all the way to Leonberg, Germany to visit TechArt's headquarters. It was there that the good doctor and his wife sat down and hand selected the modifications they wanted on the car. Nearly twelve months passed before the nearly-finished product arrived stateside at Springfield Imports in Missouri for the final touches.
3. Standing out From the Crowd
Take one glance at the finished car, and you'll immediately realize that this isn't your ordinary, run of the mill Targa. Charcoal and red accents adorn the white bodywork, which has had its aero improved with TechArt front and rear spoilers, rear diffuser, and side skirts. A set of 21" TechArt wheels completes the stunning exterior package. Inside, you'll find a TechArt steering wheel, floor mats, and a custom stitched center console mounted armrest, all matching the charcoal and red accents on the exterior.
4. But How Does It Run?
With flat six mechanical music emanating from the TechArt valve-controlled sport exhaust system, this car just begs for a three hour mountain run. According to Mr. Rand this tuned Targa doesn't punish with a "thumpy" ride, noting that bumps in the road "did not resonate throughout the cabin or pop me out of my seat each time one was crossed." It's worth noting, however, that this particular car was not fitted with the TechArt spring kit, so most of the credit goes the the engineers at Porsche.
5. Building Your Own TechArt
If you want your own bespoke TechArt Porsche, you've got a couple of different ways to get one. You can obviously contact TechArt directly, but you can also work through your local Porsche dealer or service center. Heck, if you want, you can even order the parts and install them yourself. TechArt can and will pick the option packages for you to produce an amazing car, above and beyond what the Porsche factory offers. But very few folks choose to go this route, instead flipping through the catalog of TechArt performance and appearance options, to put together a unique ride. Obviously, that is the big appeal of working with an expert, do it all, tuner like TechArt.
