993 Speedster by Gunther Werks Debuts in Monterey
Gunther Werks' new Speedster model has made its debut in the most appropriate setting possible at Monterey Car Week.
World Debut
Gunther Werks showed off its newest product to the public for the first time at Monterey Car Week this past week. The California-based builder has been gathering notoriety for their brilliant recreations of Porsche's most popular generation of the 911. Having designed a restomod 993 with a full carbon fiber shell, they decided to take things up a notch with their 993 Speedster.

Gracing Monterey Car Week
The company announced this venture last year, but the car had not been seen in the metal until last week. The 993 Speedster Gunther Werks showed off at Pebble Beach was painted in a beautiful Peninsula Cypan paint. The interior features upholstery Mandarin Orange leather. It is designed to be water-resistant, in case the weather doesn't want to cooperate during your weekend drive.

Chassis Stiffness
With the removal of the roof, the main concern to address was the chassis stiffness, of course. The engineers at Gunther Werks found the answer to this challenge, adding in structural elements in the rear seat area, which is now covered up by the beautiful flying buttresses.

Speedster Remastered
The raked windshield has been adapted from the 964 Speedster. It features a carbon fiber frame and cowl, as well as being reinforced with aluminum. The limited-edition restomod Porsche will have Fuchs-style center lock wheels available as an option. These wheels might have a classic look, but they have carbon fiber barrels and magnesium centers, helping to reduce unsprung mass significantly.

Porsche Flat 6
The 993 Speedster Remastered is powered by the same Porsche 4.0-liter flat-6 as Guther Werks' coupe 911. Though it has been reworked by the capable minds at Rothsport Racing to produce 435 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque. Those figures will go a long way in this application, considering the open-top beauty has a curb weight of just 2,590 pounds. The N/A motor is mated to a Getrag G50 6-speed manual transmission with with revised ratios and a new differential with carbon clutches.

Limited to 25 Units
To improve handling performance, the car is equipped with JRZ adaptive suspension. The 993 Speedster Remastered has made its world debut, but the folks at Gunther Werks haven't announced exact pricing figures for the builds. What we do know is that there will only be 25 of these bad boys made.
