6 Most Expensive Porsche Vehicles so Far
Dr. Porsche was one of the top engineers in Germany, and designed one of the lowest priced cars in the world: The VW Beetle. On the other end of the spectrum are these advanced and expensive Porsche cars, which had the highest MSRPs.
1. 2010 Porsche 918 spyder concept - $850,000
This was a fine hybrid system, combining electric and gas motors to result in a beautiful beast of a sports car. This concept belts out 608 horsepower from the V8 and another 279 horsepower from the dual electric motors. That's just a few ponies short of 900 horsepower! The few hundred that were sold had a starting price of about $850,000.
2. 2003 Rinspeed Bedouin - $2,500,000
This is certainly not your typical Porsche 911. From its styling, to the motor to well - it's price tag. At $2.5 Million, the buyer receives a interesting paint scheme and body styling from tuning house Rinspeed. The motor is a 3.6l 4 valve flat six that produces 420hp, which is pretty impressive. The rear portion of the body, over the engine, is convertible from a pickup truck, to an enclosed cargo area. Rinspeed is considered the "creative think tank" for the European automotive industry and is based out of Switzerland.
3. 1994 Schuppan 962 CR - $2,450,000
Some consider this car the rarest of the rare in the Porsche realm of amazing tuner automobiles. It was built by Australian race car driver Vern Schuppan, and hence the name "Schuppan". It is believed only 5 were ever built. The motor is a twin turbo 3.6 liter flat six which pushed out a whopping 600hp. The car reached a top speed of 230 mph and hits zero-to-sixty in just under 3.5 seconds.
4. 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 - $2,200,000
This Porsche was designed specifically for GT1 Sportscar racing series. The car featured a mid mounted 6 cylinder water cooled, twin-turbocharged motor pushing out nearly 600hp. The vehicle was a great success at the LeMans 24 hour race and won in its GT1 class from the onset.
5. 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Road car - $2,000,000
This was the street legal version of the 911 GT1 sports car racing series model, labeled "Strabenversion" - meaning street version. There were supposed to be 25 examples created of the street legal version, but only 2 were ever made. One is owned by the German government for compliance testing and the other by a private collector.
6. 1996 Porsche 911 GT1 Roadcar - $2,000,000
Very similar to its 1997 and 1998 brethren but just as rare, expensive and plain awesome. In recent years, you may find these going up for sale in Japan for nearly $2 million. While officially part of the 911 family, this car shared more common traits with the 993 and the 962 in regards to front and rear chassis.
