Special Anniversary

Porsche may be a German brand with a proud heritage, but the automaker knows that it can attribute much of its success to America. In fact, the 1953 356 America Roadster was an open-top, enthusiast-focused sports car made specifically for the North American market, and now, Porsche is celebrating its 50th anniversary by creating a new version of exactly the same thing - the 2023 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition.

Singular Configuration

Porsche says that when the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America reaches showrooms in late 2022 for the 2023 model year, it will be one of the rarest 992 911s built to date. Based on the already-fantastic 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, the America edition will feature the same drivetrain but is only available with a seven-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Interior Touches

There are plenty of special touches to be found inside the cabin, including door decals finished in white with Guards Red accents that read "America," as well as rear, white "911 Carrera" and Guards Red "GTS" logos. There's plenty of Guards Red stitching throughout the cabin, accompanied by Pebble Gray stitching, unique sill plates, and Guards Red seat belts. An optional extended interior package adds even more of these touches.

Performance Bits

The 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America is powered by Porsche's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter boxer six-cylinder engine that generates 473 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sport is standard, along with the Sport Exhaust and the Sport Chrono Package, while rear-axle steering and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are available as added cost options.

Exterior Features

On the outside, this new offering is finished in Azure Blue 356, a color inspired by the 1953 356 America Roadster. Through Paint to Sample Plus, the color is revived and reserved for this special vehicle in the 2023 model year. The windshield frame is finished in Satin Black, while RS Spyder Design Wheels feature white spokes with silver accents and a Guards Red pinstripe along the edge of the rim.

Pricing and Availability

The 2023 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America is expected to arrive at U.S. dealers in late 2022 and will carry a starting MSRP of $184,920 excluding $1,450 for delivery, processing, and handling. Including the extended interior package, MSRP is $192,430 also excluding $1,450 for delivery, processing, and handling.

Perfect Timing

"Passion for driving a Porsche runs deep in the United States. In particular, there is something special about hitting the road in an open-top 911 with a manual transmission that fits perfectly here," said Kjell Gruner, President, and CEO of Porsche Cars North America Inc. "This is also the perfect time to add another 'America' model to our story as we look back on 70 years since the 356 America Roadster and 30 years since the 964 America Roadster."
