10 Porsche Songs/Name Drops
From rock to country to hip-pop, these artist know the high status that comes with owning a Porsche.
1. Nazz - When I Get My Plane
Porsches history in music is immense, so while not all the songs in the world can make the cut, here are a few (from different genres) that understand the Porsche lifestyle.
Beginning with Nazz' 1968 When I Get My Plane, Nazz seems to be more excited about getting a plane than driving a Porsche. In the second verse, this 60's rock band drops the Porsche word as they sing, "Porsches and Jaguars are a bore..." Avoiding analyzing this as much as possible, this could be more about getting high than finding the Porsche to be a bore.

2. Janis Joplin - Mercedes Benz
Ms. Joplin must have wanted to stand out amongst the crowd, as she asked the Lord for a Mercedes. In her 1971's song Mercedes Benz, she sings, "Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz? My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends." Janis Joplin repeats herself in the last verse, dropping Porsche twice in her song.
3. T. Rex - Calling All Destroyers
This English rock band was formed in the late 60's and in their Futuristic Dragon album they name drop Porsche. T. Rex rocked "Shadow Beach Burgandy / Get you high as lightning / Driving in your Porsche coupe / Don't Marry Fanny Frightening," in their 1976's song Calling All Destroyers. Don't know who Fanny Frightening could be, but surely this unknown person is getting high as lightning driving in a Porsche.

4. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Parents Just Don't Understand
It seems no matter what generation you grow up in, parents will never understand. Will Smith testifies in this 1988's song. Yet, while the whole song portrays a teenager growing up, Will Smith still drops Porsche when he sings, "Oh okay, here's the situation /My Parents went away on a week's vacations / And left the keys to the brand new Porsche / Would they mind? / Umm, well, of course not." He drops Porsche two more times telling the story of how he got arrested driving 90mph in his mom's new Porsche.
5. The Judds - This Country's Rockin'
In this 1990's upbeat country song, these lovely ladies sing, "You might ride a horse, drive a Porsche / Or cruise in limousines / Eat caviar with champagne / Or cornbread with your pinto beans." Seems like these ladies understand the lifestyle attached to a Porsche; although they continue to sing "But there's one thing / In which we all agree / We love our country music / Like the Queen loves tea." This just links country lovers with the Porsche.
6. Joan Armatrading - Shape of a Pony
Joan Armatrading is a British singer who sang, "He would die for a Porsche / All covered up with chrome / All covered up with chrome," twice in this 1995's song, Shape of a Pony. Looks like even in pop music, do people know what a person will do for a Porsche.
7. Dru - Gettin It In
In 2011 R&B, Dru metaphorically used the Porsche to discuss his sexual desires. In his song Getting It In, he sings, " You got my engine revving / Its time to get this started / oooh baby, we can make this happen now / Like a Porsche 911 / see the green light girl you're ready / Ready to take off, ohh." Yup, this is pretty self-explanatory.
8. Rick Ross - 911
In this 2012 song, Mr. Ross raps, "...If I die today, on the highway to heaven / Can I let my top down in my 911? / In my 911? In my 911? In my 911?" Here is another reference connecting death and Porsche. Rick Ross has a suicide wish to die in his Porsche.

9. Young Jeezy
Young Jeezy has a few songs where he mentions the Porsche. One song is Air Forces, and another is All White Everything. In Air Forces, he begins the song with "I went from old school Chevys to drop top Porsches," and in All White Everything, it goes, "White Benz, white Porsche, white bent, white range, white Vette, white brains." Looks like if he does own a Porsche, the color must be white.

10. Jay-Z
As it turns out, Jay-Z can't mutter a word without Porsche coming through. From songs like "Dirt Off Your Shoulders" to "Who Gon Stop Me" (with Kanye West) to a version of Alphaville's "Forever Young", and even "My President is Black", all have the word Porsche being dropped.
