These lights require it to be inserted so that the ridge is down. My theory is that when low beam is on, only trhe forward LED is on and light is directed to the upper part of the reflector, hince pointing down on the road. High beam I theorize would have the rear LEDs on so that the entire reflector is used and the cooresponding "high" beam.
