I've had Nitto NT01's for the past 5-6 years and love them. I tried the old R888's before the NT01's and didn't like them. Too loud and not as much grip as NT01's. I ran the NT01's on a 997.1TT and 997.2TT over the years a like them. For this year, I have a new car - 2008 Cayman S (stock suspension, PASM, H&R sways set to soft) and saw Toyo made a new R888R tire so I thought I'd try it.

After 2 track days, I would say the NT01's are much better. With the R888R, I started with 32F/35R cold on a 75 degree day. It got to 35F/40R hot and it was very slippery and loose. I then brought to down to 28F/29R cold and it got to 32F/33R hot which was much better. I still think the NT01's grip better. I would not go back to another Toyo tire the next time around. Back to the NT01's.

Just my experience. Will do more testing in a few weeks next time I get on the track.

I have a set of brand new Toyo R888R's for sale. I got rid of my 991.1 C2S for a 991.2 GTS that has centerlocks, so now my race wheels and the tires that I had for them no longer fit. I will list the wheels, exhaust and some other parts in separate posts, too. This is 2 fronts at 265/30/19 and 2 rears at 295/30/19, brand new (still in wrappers). Set is $1,325 from Tire Rack right now. Will sell for $1,000 (free shipping), so save $325. Shipping included in the continental US.

You can see from my previous posts on this thread and others I have used this brand/model/size tire for a couple of years and I love them. Great track tires that really raise performance and confidence levels. Just sold the car before I had a chance to use this set....

They should be 32-38 psi hot. The cold psi depends on how you drive and how hot it is outside. I start mine at 25 psi for a 75 degree day.

Not nearly as much as the R888's.
