Default replacing tires > questions

My '77 slant conversion came with 225/50R16 front and 245/50R16 rear.
They are two different brands and aged. I'd like to get a set with four of the same thing.

I'm thinking of some RA-1's but the rear size they have is 245/45R16. Thoughts? What are other people running with similar configurations? The car is lowered a bit if that helps. This is for street driving, spirited fun runs and the occasional track day.

If I posed this in the wrong sub-forum, let me know; I'm new to this forum.

Have you looked at the BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2? They are available in both sizes and will offer better street driving characteristics (wear, noise) than the RA-1. It's one of our best sellers.

BFG also makes the Comp 2 A/S if looking for a longer wearing (but less dry performing) all season tire. If you plan to do any track driving, stay with the Comp 2.

Please call me if I can help.

^ I've always liked the customer service at Tire Rack.

To be fair, the Comp 2's are most often compared to tires like S.drive's, Direzzas and similar high performance street tires. Review seem to favor them too! But I do like my R comps. My go-to tire for my other cars is the R888.

Is anyone running the Sport Comp 2's on their 911? Your opinion would be great. @damon, thanks very much for posting.

I pulled the trigger on some RA1's. They ride (and stick) nicely.
