Wheels/tires for DE

I am interested in picking up some wheels and tires for DE track days and would like some recommendations for my 1982 911 SC.

I currently have 16" Fuchs and SO3s on the car, but I would like to use this combo on the street.

Thanks!

Fuchs are great, light, wheels to use on the 911SC. 7's or 944 8's can fit in front, with 8's or 9's in the rear (all 16"). I like the 944 8's with 225x16's in front with 9's and 245x16's in the rear, however, that requires rolling the front fenders or removing the inner fender lip and some decent negative camber. 7's front and 8's rear make a nice combination, too. I think some options are discussed in the 911SC FAQ on tech.rennlist.com.

Bill-I'd rather not go too wide on the wheels-What size tire do you recommend on a 7" front and 8"rear?

Thanks!

While you can go with the 225's and 245's on 7/8's, I prefer 205's and 225's, which are the stock sizes. On wider rims, the sidewalls are stiffer as they are held out more. 9's, btw, fit just fine on the SC. It's what you do in front that can have consequences.

Bill, a 225/50 R16 was the stock tire size on a 7" wheel on the 88 944 turbo S and 89 944 turbo.
