Lightweight 17" rims - still possible to get?
I'm running OEM 18" Carrera 2002-wheels with MPSC-tires, 235s on 8" ET50 up front and 265s on 10" ET65 with 18mm spacers rear ( = ET47). These are the lightest 18" OEM Porsche wheels made.
A pro racer told me yesterday to look for 17" rims, so I have started looking for 8" and 9" wheels with ET50 and up (front) plus ET47 and up (rear), i.e. ET70 is okay. 8" is the narrowest rim width for MPSC 235s, 9" same for 265s
The OEM Cup1s (7.5" ET65) will clear my OEM 996 GT3 calipers up front (4-pot 330mm) only if the stick-on wheel weigths aren't installed in their way AND I use 6mm spacers.
So, without starting a discussion on 18" vs. 17", please let me have your thoughts on the likelyhood of finding 17" wheels with a design that clears the front calipers AND are lightweight.
The use is 98% track, 2% street (aka Testing )
Price is not really an issue, however I'd rather not go custom.
I'm aware that I can't use MPSCs anymore with 17" rims.

Seems like CCW LM5 and Classic are the only lightweight 17" wheels with 5x130 bolt pattern available. Not sure how well they will clear the calipers or what the weight is.
It appears that the tire choices in 17" DOT track is limited to Nitto, Toyo, Yokohama and BFGoodrich, where Toyo is best suited for a wet track. Any opinions on this?

Concluded too early, Fikse and new Fuchs comes in 17" as well. Just need to figure out the tires.
