Follow this link to a Tire Selection Guide. Once you get to the point where they ask you how important treadwear is, select 3 for most important. The system will guide you to a selection of tire that will fit your criteria.

Check Falken Azenis ST-115, it has a tread wear of 320 and it's bang-for-the-buck.

I've managed to get 30k miles out of Michelin Pilot Sports. The various Pirelli PZero's and Bridgestone S01-3's I've run usually last 10-14k miles if I'm lucky.

Here's my $0.02..

Screw the longevity! Go for the performance. That's why you got your p-car anyways, right?

I got 10K miles on my last set of Yokohamas.

If you don't push the limits at all, then you might has well got another commuter car, ie honda civic/toyota prius. Or better yet, get both the commuter car and the "fun" car.

I know that the 911 has superb performance.
But then so do many others.

But theres not many cars out there that are as gorgeous as a 911 too.

Some people do buy it for that reason too.

Avon make some hard compound low cost 18" tires. They are definitely not for high performance though!

Try Khumo's. I don't know if they're wide enough, but for the price, they work. I've pasted Tire Racks list below for the Khumo's.
