DE Tires for my 964 - Toyo RA-1s?

I have a 964 C2 which is lowered and which I race. I have 18x10 265s/18x8.5 225s for racing (very tight fit-- use 1/4" inch spacers on the back) and 17x9/7.5s for the street. I was looking at a combination tire for street/DE events. I travel long distances to the tracks so I need something that can handle the rain. I wanted the Yokahama A032s (255/225) but they no longer make the 225s. I am worried about fitting the 235s on the front.

Does anyone have any comments on the Toyo RA-1s on wet streets?

Has anyone tried a 275/235 combination? How does it fit on a C2?

Thanks for comments.

GavinB, I've got fiske FM-10 17x8.5 and 9.5 with Yoko AO32R 235 front and 255 rear with no problems, although I should put the steering stops on as the fronts do rub a little on the inner liner at full lock. I've been happy with the Yoko's, except for the noise. I'm looking at new rubber and see that Victro has a new tire that comes in 235 and 275. I'm concerned about interference on the rears at the 275 width.

I use 275's (17") A032R on the rear of my 93 964, which has been lowered and tweaked, and they will fit if the offset is just right. The critical area is the right side oil line. You may need a thin spacer to get the final adjustment. I have also seen 275's fitted to an RSA which was driven to a DE.
Note, the difference in diameter front to back with 235/275 doesn't seem to effect handling, braking or the ABS.

I use 17" 225's up front and 275's in the rear with the newer Kumho Ectsa DOT "R" tire, and I drive to the track (hour each way). For tracks farther away, I'll be using a small trailer behind (Harbor Freight $250 incl. spare tire). I know racers who use the Toyo RA1's as a rain tire, so it might work for you. I'm told you can fit up to 245's under the front. The new Michelin cup tire, avail thru Tire Rack to PCA members, is getting some good reviews too.

Regarding Gavin's question for a lowered and modified 964, based on my experience the A032R 235/40/17 will fit up front. In addition, 245/40/17 Hoosiers will fit. However, the suspension had better have limited travel and be relatively stiff to avoid rubbing.
Does anyone have experience with the 245/45/17 Hoosiers or A032R on a 964?

well, it's not a 964, but on my 95 993 C4 I run 17in wheels with 245 fronts and 275 rears, Hoosiers. VERY stiff suspension (650 fronts/800 rear spring weights) monoballs, TRG sways. No spacers, with Fiske and Kinesis Wheels. No rubbing, great to reduce understeer.
