Help: BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD no longer in producdtion?

Hi,

I tried to order a set from Tirerack, but it told me that the KD is no longer in production. Is it true?

is so, does BFGoodrich have a replacement for it?

Thanks a million,

So, why is it still showing on their web site?

Who knows what to believe these days. The BFG site says they're still current.

I am trying to confirm with tirerack about this. Truly I don't want to see the KD discountined (unless BFGoodRich comes out something better to replace it).....

I need a new set of tires now. If I can't get the KD, I will need to settle down with something like S-03...

:-(

I can't imagine them getting rid of the KD's. The only new tire that BFG has coming out is called the Traction which won't be out till later in the fall. G-Forces are selling so well, they would be stupid to get rid of them unless there is something so much better.

Couple of ?'s:
How is this tire compared to the BFG?
Can you have these tires in front, and the MXX3's in the back and vice versa?

The Rib, however, might perform better in the wet given its abundance of grooves.

2- No.

While it doesn't have the name cachet of the KD, the Kumho Ecsta MX has the 99% of the dry performance of the KD and even better wet grip. Check out Tireracks own objective test at http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testResultsModel.jsp?tireModel=Ecsta+MX&tireMake=Kumho to see real comparison results. I am running these for AutoX and DE and have been very pleased with their performance after my previous SO2s and RE730s. Standard disclaimers of course, I have no affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

Hi, to follow up, I just got an email from Jake at Tirerack to confirm that the KD is no longer in production. Duh!!

This is for my Boxster S with 18" wheels.

What is the next best dry performance tire I should get? I don't drive this car on wet, and I do a few DE and AX events per year. I don't mind road noise and rough ride.

Best Regards,

Consider the following. Not in any particular order:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ilot+Sport+Cup Michelin Pilot Sport "Cup" (probably even better than KD)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ilot+Sport+PS2 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ilot+Sport+Rib Michelin Pilot Sport Rib

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Potenza+S-02+A Bridgestone S-02A

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=PZero+Corsa Pirelli P-Zero "Corsa" (much like the Pilot Sport Cup above)

Thanks for the info! :)

Viken, thank you. Would you tell us mere mortals how you get all this information? You must be on the payroll of Porsche, or Michelin, in addition to AGA and La Cornue.;-)

The BFGoodrich g-Force KD is still in production, recently reduced in price and available in all the good sizes. Go to the BFGoodrich site, all the information's there (except for the price reduction).
