I've heard a lot of good things about Michelin Pilot Alpins and Bridgestone Blizzacks.

Go to www.tirerack.com and do a search and check out the reviews they have. Real good info.

Only experience is with the used Blizzaks I run during the winter. The car will climb trees with them.

Also, they didn't wear too badly in the dry. This is a 944 FWIW.

Also a fan of Blizzaks for winter driving. If they can make my friend's Mustang get through this past winter they can get just about anything through.

Ditto Dave's comment on acceptable wear in the dry.

I had michelin pilot alpins on my 93 legend coupe. took a lot of trips to the mountains of vermont for skiing, an never got stuck.

the car rode almost as good in the dry as it did the the michelin mxv's. highly recommend them.

I used the Dunlop Winter Sport last year on my C4 and they worked well. I'm pretty sure they're not the snow tire the Blizzaks are, but I had no problems in snow or ice. And, they probably have better traction on dry than the Blizzaks. The C4's do well in the snow with any tire; I don't think you have to get too extreme of a winter tire. You're gonna run out of clearance in the snow before you run out of traction.

On the OT forum there is a link to a pretty impressive video of a 996 Carrera being driven at high speed around the Nurburgring - while it is -14C and under 10cm (4") of snow!

see https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...threadid=78508

I believe the tires used were from the Continental ContiWinterContact TS range. I have already deleted the video but near the start there is a close-up of the tire. It seems to perform very nicely!
